CNN Coverage of Pennies for Peace

Greg Mortenson’s Pennies For Peace organization came to Watchung Hills Regional High School on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 to present a program throughout the day for our students and in the evening for the community. As a result of a school-wide service learning project spear-headed by Watchung Hills teachers, Mary Sok, Jamie Lott-Jones, Patricia Kelly, and All Student Council Advisor Maureen Kelly, our learning community raised over $25,000.00 to help build schools and purchase supplies for children in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Cafeteria Online Payment System

The Watchung Hills Regional High School District uses a computerized POS (point of sale) system in the cafeteria. A debit account was automatically opened for your child upon enrollment, so, instead of your student paying with cash, you may deposit funds into his/her debit account utilizing this service. Just like EZ Pass on the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, this system reduces time-consuming cash transactions, and makes our lunch lines move much faster. The students use their ID number to access the account and pay for lunch in a secure fashion.
