The Watchung Hills Regional High School has guidance and counseling curriculum to address the school related educational and social needs of students.  Pupil personnel staff address the needs unique to students in the high school and provide support and resource assistance for parents, staff and administration.

The guidance counseling program is implemented through individual and group activities to provide orientation and counseling for students, parents and teaching staff. 

High School guidance counselors devote the greater part of their time to helping youngsters select appropriate courses, explore college, career and vocational options, make suggestions for improving study habits, resolve difficulties with peers and finalize post high school plans.

The counselor attempts to achieve a delicate ever-shifting balance – be available to the student who wishes to reach out to the counselor for help, while trying to be cognizant of the student who needs the counselor to reach out to them.  The guidance department’s ultimate goal, in whatever we do with youngsters, is to cultivate a child’s self worth – to help them feel good about themselves.
